What is Deep Tissue Massage?
After your muscles have been warmed up a deep tissue massage applies deeper pressure to your muscles and their connective tissue to release and relax tense muscles. Deep tissue massage techniques are very effective in alleviating the stress on your muscular skeletal system caused by tight or injured muscles. For example; posture stress will result in pain and tight muscles in the neck, shoulders and lower back. When a muscle is tight, you can be sure that it's connecting point will also be tight. Your therapist is trained to release the connective tissue (tendons and ligaments) as well as the muscle itself to achieve a successful outcome. This type of massage can cause some discomfort at times as your muscles, tendons and ligaments are released but our aim is to tailor each massage to suit you. Our qualified therapist will regularly consult with you regarding the tenderness of your muscles and adjust the pressure accordingly to get the best result for you.
Deep tissue massage techniques compliment other modalities such as chiropractic and physiotherapy in managing chronic pain and correcting areas of weakness in your muscular skeletal system. Your therapist will work closely with all your health practitioners to restore your health and well being.
